Sony is strongly supporting Linux for its Playstation 3. Even dummies can install an alternative operating system on the PS3. In the distribution you will get the following:
- Enlightenment E17 User Interface
- Open Office 2.0.2
- Thunderbird 1.5
- Firefox 1.5
- Cell SDK
- Gimp
- Evolution 2.6
- Rhythmbox
- Totem 1.4
With the new system software you will be able to connect an ordinary bluetooth keyboard and mouse directly to the PS3. And by using HD LCD Televisions or 16:10/16:9 LCD monitors you will have a full-feature PC for the same price then a game console and a blu-ray player. I think the 599 Euros are really affordable if you think what you get for your money and even Sony is sponsoring the PS3 with a lot of money because 599 Euros is not covering the manufacturing cost.
Please stay tuned at Sonyfanboy. Next I will report you how to use your Playstation 3 as a digital video recorder - just connect a WinTV Nova-T USB DVB-T Reciever…

I managed to install linux on the PS3 with no hitches. One thing though about the bluetooth keyboard, will it work in the linux or will I have to do alot of sniffing around to set it up?
since linux is able to access the bluetooth device it should be able with no hassle if linux ships the Bluetooth Human Interface Device (HID) Profile. I have not evaluated it yet.
