All About Sony And Myself…

Sony beweist wieder einmal Gespür für Zeitgeist: Man nehme das sehr erfolgreiche soziale Webnetzwerk Second Life und kreuze es mit einer Gaming-Plattform wie Xbox Live. Fertig ist Playstation Home, das erstmals auf der diesjährigen GDC (Game Developer Conference) präsentiert wurde und durchaus das Zeug hat, den Videospielebereich zu revolutionieren. Denn im Gegensatz zu den sehr einfachen Mii-Figuren, mit den Nintendo seine Konsolen bevölkert bietet Playstation Home optisch beindruckende Welten, in denen der Spieler sich mit seinen Freunden treffen kann, um ihnen seine Spieltrophoäen zu präsentieren oder sich gemeinsam im virtuellen Kino aktuelle Trailer anzusehen.
 
Playstation Home soll im Herbst 2007 über das Playstation Network zum Download bereit stehen. Eine geschlossene Beta soll bereits in diesem Frühjahr starten. Aber was genau kommt auf die PS3 Besitzer zu? Grundsätzlich ist Playstation Home eine freibegehbare virtuelle Welt, in der sich die Spieler als Avatare bewegen, die sie nach ihren eigenen Vorstellungen formen können. Wer Spiele wie die Sims oder Second Life kennt, hat einen ungefähren Eindruck davon, wie sich die eigene Spielfigur in allen optischen Bereichen anpassen lässt. Playstation Home dient dabei als begehbare Lobby, das in rudimentärer Form ja bereits von Spielen wie Dead or Alive 4 getestet worden ist. Hier kann man sich in 3- D Räumen zu gemeinsamen Spielen verabreden.
 
Jeder Teilnehmer verfügt auch über eigene Wohnung, die er nach seinem eigenen Geschmack einrichten kann und in der er die Trophäen seiner Spiele austellen kann. Wenn man so will, ein begehbarer Achievment-Schrank. Aber damit nicht genug, in seiner Wohnung kann man seinen Freunden auch diversen Medien wiedergeben, die sich auf der eigenen PS3 befinden. So können hier Trailer oder Musiklisten abgespielt werden.Während man bei Xbox Live den Einkaufvorgang von z.B. Downloadcontent eher dröge in einzelnen Slides des Dashboards durchführt, kann man in der Welt von Playstation Home wirklich shoppen gehen. In virtuellen Geschäften stehen Videos und Spiele zur Verfügung. Wer vom Shoppen genug hat, kann sich auch mit ein paar Freunden im virtuellen Kino treffen und sich dort aktuelle Trailer und später dann auch ganze Filme angucken.
 
Playstation Home soll dabei komplett kostenlos sein. Allerdings sollen diverse Einrichtungsgegenstände und Kleidungsstücke natürlich gegen bare Münze zu erwerben sein. Wer auch in der Realität nicht in einer 2-Zimmer Altbau-Wohnung hausiert, kann auch bei Playstation Home weiterhin auf dicke Hose machen und sich gegen entsprechenden Entgeldseine Trohpähen in eine riesige Designer-Bude stellen. Natürlich steht die gesamte Welt von HOME auch Werbekunden offen. Die Werbung ist dabei nicht auf kleine Plakate beschränkt, interessierte Firmen können auch ganze Bereiche der Welt kaufen und nach eigenen Wünschen gestalten. 

Sir Howard Stinger, Sony Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, has reported at the Spider-Man 3 Premiere Celebration Event in Japan, that they have sold 800.000 units of the PlayStation 3 in throughout Europe.  They’re working hard on cracking the One-Million-Mark.

All new Sony Bravia X2550 Series will ship with the following:

Sony will introduce in June 2007 the new Bravia D3000 Series LCD Television in Europe.

For the first time it will feature:

• Sony 100Hz Motion Flow
• 10bit Panel Driver
• True 24p image processing
• Three HDMI inputs (one on the left side, ideal for HDV etc. camcorders input!)

I had the chance for a first hands-on impression. The new Bravia D3000 looks similia to Sony’s X series TVs but without that glass frame. It features 1366×768 screen resolution, no Full HD. The image quality is more than impressive. Other manufactures will be blown away by this performance. There is no more motion blur because of the 100Hz, it can handle all 24 frames per second image processing from Blu-Ray or HD-DVD players and shows no more 2:3 Pull Down bucking. Motion is flawless from the next generation discs. The 10bit panel driver shows superior colors, 1024 steps of grey tones, wider color spectrum and marvellous skin tones. The contrast ratio is handled dynamically and on the same level as seen on the best Plasma TVs.

40″ D3000 compared to X series in the same dimension, the D3000 has the better color reproduction, contrast ratio, better motion flow, short and to the point: cinema-like picture.

Sony ships a full cinema color, contrast, backlight correction and gamma profile. Specialists from Sony Pictures have created this preset. I recommend to use this.

46″ D3000 compared to X series in the same dimension turned out a different picture, the full HD resolution panel on the X series seems to create a substantially sharper and “live-like” image, though other parameters (s.o.) where below the D3000 series level. I think full HD resolution is getting really interesting if you choose a TV above 40″.

If you can wait, wait for the X series update, which will be introduced these days by Sony. It features same credentials as the D3000 series but with a Full-HD panel in center!
