New Sony Bravia D3000 No True 24p May 27, 2007
Posted by sonyfanboy in Bravia, General, Sony.trackback

Sadly, not as reported previously, the Sony Bravia D3000 series are not capable of displaying true 1080p with true 24p - this feature is reserved for the later-this-year-being-introduced X-Series TVs.
The Sony Bravia D3000 series can process pictures with up to 1080i. When feeded with Playstation 3 input by using its latest firmware it is indeed possible to switch to 1080p. But:
- All 1080p input will be converted to 1080i by using the new Sony Motionflow Technology
- All 1080p 24p input will be re-processed internally by the D3000 series resulting in 100 full-frames per second by using the Motion Flow Technology - 1080 Interlaced
Nevertheless, as mentioned, the picture quality is impressive. I will check this agains the X-Series as soon as possible. To those amongst you who fancy the real most sophisticated thing, you should wait for the X-Series!

Hi,
In relation to the 100hz function of the D3000, how does this work with 720p @60hz for Xbox 360 here in Europe? will it double to 120hz or will it be 100hz?
Cheers.

The illustration clearly shows 4 frames that will be inserted for every source frame. If I count correctly, that result in 24×5=120 fps.
European TV sets can often display 120 Hz just as well as the US models - but marketing speak is still “100 Hz” as customers are used to that number from the old 100 Hz CRT (PAL with frame doubling).
The new X series sure is taking it’s time.
has anyone any idea when the new top of line bravia’s will be out??and will they have similar features to the US XBR4-5 Models
i need a new tv now and if it’s going to be 5 or 6 months waiting it won’t be worth it.
by the way is it possible to get a pal version of the XBR3’s or any US Sony? I have a guy in canada i buy alot of eletronics from and he tell’s me he can get pal version’s on request… does this sound like something that would be true or a porkie?
any help guys would be great
HI ALL,
Is the Sony “Motion Flow” circuit as good as the Philips “Digital Natural Motion” circuit. Does it interpolate the frames in between when the “Film Look” is applied by the Broadcasters to make their excellent smooth “Live Look” programmes into the horrible flickery Cinema Look that is now the norm on all Dramas,
Cheers, JOHN
Hi,
the Sony “Motion Flow” circuit is even better than Philips’ counterpart. Sony has acquired the company who developed the Philips Digital Natural Motion. So Philips is Sony now, but the old one, if you know what I mean
Is this the TV for the US thats “true 24p” or not???

Yes, M, it is!!!
Will Sony introduce an “X” series model with MotionFlow and when?
The X series models have got Motion Flow.
What is the most important difference: They offer Full-HD pixel-per-pixel playback with Motion Flow turned off and true 24 full frames per second.
