Big AVCHD Bug In Sony Playstation 3 (GERMAN) / Sony HDR-CX6 Review February 2, 2008
Posted by sonyfanboy in Blu-Ray, PS3, Sony, Vaio, Windows Vista.add a comment

Sony NW-A810 Preview / Sony Has Learned The Lesson September 17, 2007

Sony finally has learned the lesson. The latest incarnation of the A and S series players are out in shop now - without Sony Sonic Stage or any annoying software gluing a music player to and only to one certain software.
While Apple is trying to make the utmost not to let people use other software than iTunes to fill music, Sony is going the other way ’round. Finally.
Just connect the latest A or S series player to ANY computer - Windows, Apple, Linux, no matter - and drag and drop any files you’d like to. That’s it.
Alternatively you can use the Playstation 3, just select “copy to USB drive”, and that’s it.
Sony has added an option to playback the latest Windows Media DRM protected files which makes these players “Napster-compatible”. Great for your music flatrate. But only if you like to. It’s you choice. Great, Sony! Finally, Sony!
Let the people decide what they do or not with their devices!

Hi guys,
as I have told to you, Sony Ericsson is going to incorporate the Sony Media Manager by Sony Media Software USA for their Walkman. I got some very promising news from some Sony fellows that there will be a point where all devices - Sony Ericsson Walkman, Sony Playstation Portable and Sony Network Walkman - use this software. A really good software. Here is the screenshot:

New Sony A2DP Bluetooth Receiver TDM-BT1 May 27, 2007

The Sony A2DP Bluetooth Receiver TDM-BT1 is available throughout Europe for about 80 Euros.
I myself bought the Sony Ericsson A2DP Receiver and was badly disappointed of the sound quality (read my review). I immediately sold it in Ebay.
I gave the Sony TDM-BT1 a new try. The product has the following specs:
- Bluetooth 2.0 EDR
- 55gr weight
- 1m supplied cable with stereo chinch connectors
- Support for native streaming of MP3, AAC, ATRAC and WAV
This is promising and the soundquality I got is really good. Not as good as connecting for example the NW-A808 by using its own desk stand to the receiver but much better than the Sony Ericsson product. It sounds louder because it has the same output voltage on the stereo chinch cable as your CD player has. This is a step forward.
Keep in mind that for 80 Euros you won’t get an audiophile D/A converter! The Pinnacle soundbridge sounds much better when connected digitally to your receiver.
I was able to stream MP3, AAC, ATRAC and WAV without on-the-fly converting to the A2DP sound compression standard SBC-Codec from my Sony Ericsson W880i and from the latest Sony Walkman with Bluetooth Kit. I failed in getting a proper connection from my Sony Vaio LA computer by using the Belkin USB Bluetooth adaper. The WLAN in my living room interfere with the Bluetooth and the signal was distorted. This is too bad that Bluetooth and WLAN are not working “same time in same room”. The supplied Belkin software converted all sounds from my Vaio to the SBC-Codec in a medicore bandwidth and the Sony TDM-BT1 sounded not better than my old FM-Radio
Ok, the TDM-BT1 is a good product. But if you wan’t really good sound quality buy the Soundbridge. Or, even better than the soundbrige: Use a Sony Playstation 3 with the latest firmware and install a DLNA compliant Media Server Software on your PC such as the Twonky Media Server and stream your music to the PS3! Connect the Playstation 3 digitally to your receiver, Optical Digital Cable or HDMI, and enjoy!
New Sony Foto Printer DPP-FP90 Preview With Images! March 16, 2007

Sony Germany has introduced the Foto Printer DPP-FP90. It will be available throughout Europe in April for about 200 Euros. It “prints” the images by using the dry-sublimation technolgy with 300dpi and 24bits color space. At the end of the printing procedure it adds the Super Coat coating to the images.
Features:
- Bionz Video-Processor for maximum speed (45 sec. printing time per image) and image data handling (maximum 45 megapixels images can be handled)
- Many, many in-device “photoshop” utilities for image enhancement in the device
- 3,6″ monitor and video-out
- Supports all memory card formats, even Compact Flash for professionals
- PictBridge compatible
- USB Port for harddisk or USB flash drive connectivity to print out images directly from storage devices instead of using PC
I myself got the DPP-FP50 a year or two ago and I am extremely satisfied. The DPP-FP50 got the EISA Award 2005 as a best product. The DPP-FP90 is even better.
Sony Ericsson MBR-100 Review March 9, 2007
Posted by sonyfanboy in General, Mobile Phone, Sony, Sony Ericsson, Vaio, Walkman, Windows Vista.10 comments
This is a full Review Sony Ericsson MBR-100.
The Stereo-Bluetooth Reciever comes with a 3,5mm plug to Stereo-Chinch-Cable and a 3,5mm to 3,5mm plug cable. There are analogue outputs only. You can connect the device to any stereo.
The battery pack is rechargeable and built-in. To recharge the device you can use the same facility as for the Sony Ericsson K800i, W850i, W880i, M600i, P990i mobile phones. The battery lasts for about six hours of continues playback. Playback while connecting to cord is not possible, because the stereo connect is at the same position as the mains connexion. This is too bad for Sony Ericsson.
Pairing of the MBR-100 is possible with one device only. So there is no chance to pair the device to your mobile phone and your computer. You have to reset the device each time you decide to pair it to a different one.
Since the MBR-100 is a Bluetooth 1.2 device the sound quality is not so high as for example with the Sony Ericsson Stereo Bluetooth Headset - this device is a Bluetooth 2.0 EDR device. The MBR-100 is not capable of streaming audio above 192kbit/sec. in native format from any Sony Ericsson Walkman without having converted it to SBC. When connected to PC all music needs to be converted to SBC. This is really a limitation.
The output signal strength of the MBR-100 is on par with headphones output. So the loudness and thus the dynamic range and sound quality is not so high as from a CD-player for example.
The overall sound quality of the MBR-100 is a little bit better than of a good FM radio signal.
When using WLAN facilities in your living room the signal to the MBR-100 will be distorted. WLAN and Bluetooth use similiar bands. So there is no chance to listen to your Napster tunes from your PC to the MBR-100 worry-free. The MBR-100 is better for usage in car or when connected in a “non WLAN area”.
The MBR-100 is a nice gadget. But for serious listening in you living room better connect your PC to the Pinnacle Soundbridge or buy yourself a Media Center PC such as the Sony Vaio XL-302.
