Sony Ericsson MBR-100 Preview Stereo Bluetooth Reciever March 4, 2007

Update! Please read the full Sony Ericsson MBR-100 Review here:
http://sonyfanboy.wordpress.com/2007/03/09/sony-ericsson-mbr-100-review/

Sony Ericsson Germany has released the MBR-100 Stereo Bluetooth Reciever.
For my dear readers of my blog I can make a special offer: 50 Euros incl. VAT, handling and shipping. Delivery within 24 hours but only to destinations within Germany. Please contact me by email for details. Offer is valid till 10.03.07. Device is an original Sony Ericsson Germany device with full 2-years warranty.
The new Stereo Bluetooth Reciever MBR-100 is a stylish product which enables you to stream your music in Hifi-Stereo quality from any A2DP capable device to your HiFi.
For example you can listen to your tunes from your Napster Flatrate via your HiFi. But the device is more preferable if used with a Sony Ericsson Walkman Phone. The MBR-100 supports ATRAC, MP3, AAC and SBC native streaming. To get the best quality you have these to possibilities:
- Use a Sony Ericsson Walkman and stream AAC and MP3 directly and in original bit rates without further converting to A2DP SBC
- Use a Sony Vaio PC with built-in bluetooth and Sony Sonic Stage and stream ATRAC in original bit rates without further converting to A2DP SBC.
If you use third party bluetooth adapter, such as the Belkin USB Bluetooth 2.0 adapter, which I generally recommend, all music will be converted to SBR on-the-fly before transferred to the MBR-100. The sound quality is quite good but much more worse than using a Sony Ericsson Walkman. There is no possibility to change the audio protocol from the pc as far as I have figured out.
But on the other hand, don’t forget for just 50 Euros this is the most affordable device to stream your tunes from your PC to your HiFi.
The MBR-100 is just 19gr in weight, comes with a built-in and rechargeable battery and connectors to Stereo-Chinch and Stereo-3,5mm plug. Compatible Sony Ericsson Walkman Devices are the W610i, W710i, W850i, W880i and W950i.

The Sony XL-202 Media Center PC with Blu-Ray device won first price recently in a review of the famous german-based “Video Magazin”. Scored best in picture quality and sound quality. The XL-202 can be upgraded with a HD-Sat Reciever MPEG4/MPEG2 compliant for about 300 Euros. So you need only this device in your room alongside an amplifier and home cinema speakers! Great! Sony themself will release a version with a bundled HD-Sat-Tuner (German-Premiere compatible) later this year.

New Vaio G Series February 5, 2007
Posted by sonyfanboy in Vaio.1 comment so far

Sony established the ultraportable B5-sized notebook genre years ago with their 505. The X505 Carbon Fiber ultralight ignited the marketplace. Now with the G1, Sony’s innovation is again on display.
At its lightest (1.98 pounds [898g]), the Sony Vaio G1 is certainly the lightest “fully-usable” notebook ever produced. Breaking the two-pound barrier–with a full a 12.1″ XGA TFT and 17mm keypitch keyboard–seemed improbable simply because these are not shrinkable features.
Sony did it by utilizing one of the most advanced materials available: carbon fiber. And, they did it by taking advantage of their past experiences with carbon fiber notebooks. For its many advantages, Carbon fiber is a complex material to work with, and Sony has built expertise. Carbon fiber is lighter, stronger, better at heat dissipation, and more rigid than the next best choice (aluminum or magnesium alloy). The Vaio G1’s top and bottom external casing is multi-layer carbon fiber and the palm rest is carbon mold. The G1’s carbon construction is more thorough than its carbon forebears, the X505 and the SZ/carbon.
This casing, along with a shock-mounted HDD, make the Vaio G1 very durable. It is tested to survive a drop (although not guaranteed to do so), and should be able to withstand 120kg of weight (although not guaranteed to do so).
The version with installed DVD-RW weighs only 2.17 pounds. With the DVD-RW and the double-capacity 12-hour (ideal list time) battery, total weight is 2.46 pounds! We think that stat is actually more impressive than the 1.97-pound base weight. (Note that DVD-drive and no-drive models of the G1 are different. You cannot add an internal drive to a no-drive model, but you can use an external DVD-RW drive such as Sony’s DDRW firewire.) Sony thoughtfully made the AC adapter small and light, as well.
Thoughtful extras include a quiet fan and keyboard, and dual-internal wifi antennas to improve reception. The Intel Core Solo U1500 (1.33 GHz), 2.0gb max RAM, 100gb HDD provide plenty of power. And, integrated Bluetooth, wifi, Firewire, 2 x USB 2.0, and VGA provide plenty of convenience.
The Sony Vaio G1 is a dream machine for the frequent traveler.

Sony introduces Vaio UX in Europe February 4, 2007
Posted by sonyfanboy in Vaio.add a comment
